Visitor Number List Makes For Attractive Reading

This week has seen the unveiling of the list of the top UK visitor attractions in 2012, and we’re pleased to say that each of the top five has products supplied by Tensator.

According to the Association of Leading Visitor Attractions, the countdown is as follows:

1. British Museum – 5,575,946 visitors.

2. Tate Modern – 5,318,688 visitors.

3. National Gallery – 5,163,902 visitors.
4. Natural History Museum – 5,021,762 visitors.

5. V&A – 3,231,700 visitors.

As the majority of museums in London are free to enter, you tend not to find queues for tickets at the entrance and our products are used in different ways.

Take the British Museum as an example. With over 5.5 million visitors passing through its doors every year, it’s hardly surprising that Information Points within the venue get very busy. That’s why the team at the museum has over 100 of our Tensabarrier® posts, helping visitors to join a queue and have their query dealt with in the quickest time possible.

Each venue on the list is vast in size and is home to a large number of collections and exhibitions. As such, visitors need to be able to find their way around easily, make sure they’re heading in the right direction and, if joining a queue, know exactly what it’s for. That’s why a number of the top five venues also make use of sign holders.

On the whole, visitor levels at all UK attractions increased by 5.1 per cent year-on-year, reaching 92.1 million in 2012. Here at Tensator, we’re pleased to be playing a part to make sure that each visit is as safe, organised and memorable as possible. Of course, to keep visitors coming back time and again, attractions need to be constantly looking at introducing new elements and points of interest. New exhibitions and collections are frequently being introduced, meaning that certain areas of each venue need to be closed off to the public from time-to-time. Tate Modern, The National Gallery and the V&A all make use of our Wall Mounted Barriers, which allow access to be restricted within seconds.
